Distance Learning

Distance Learning
Obviously, a degree is evidence of the standard you’ve achieved in the particular subject you’re studying. But there’s more to it than that. Whatever subject you study, having a degree demonstrates that you can organise your thoughts and express yourself at a very high level.
Plus, recent studies have identified the key attributes sought by employers when recruiting graduates. These include many interpersonal and self-management skills, often ranking above academic merit.
Choosing to study a degree by distance learning demonstrates to employers that you not only have the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding, but also that you can manage time effectively, are self-motivated and already have a good work ethic – qualities that will make you stand out from the crowd.

Advantages of distance learning and online education:
  • Distance learning does not require commuting.
  • You can complete most of the classes at your convenience.
  • Live anywhere, study from anywhere while pursuing the education of your choice.
  • Gain extra knowledge.
  • Self-paced learning.
  • Accessibility.
Research results have consistently shown that with good instructional design there's no significant difference between distance learning and in-class learning.
Disadvantages of distance learning:
  • Costly and complex technology.
  • Advance planning
  • Hidden costs.
  • Distance learning does not offer immediate feedback.
  • Distance learning does not always offer all the necessary courses online.
  • Distance learning may not be acknowledged by all employers.
  • Distance learning does not give students the opportunity to work on oral communication skills.
  • Social isolation.
